Thanks Mama for that piece of wisdom
(my mama is the one who said that being 19 is like being in limbo)
I turned 19 on Tuesday, and for the first time since I was 15, there was nothing special about the day.
15 = learner's permit
16 = driver's license
17 = rated R movies
18 = legal adult, can vote, can buy lottery tickets and millions of other things
19 = NOT SQUAT!
My little sister bought me petifores from a bakery I love and decorated the box
(it told me not to open it on the side because it apparently spent a good bit of the day in our fridge, I had no idea)
I opened presents
& I got GOOD stuff
(see my Daddy's leg in the cast, he's doing a LOT better)
then the WONDERFUL petifores were brought in and my family sang happy birthday
& I blew out the candles
only my Mama thought she was being funny, and used trick candles
foolishness
man were those petifores good!

1. I am a natural red head, as is my sister, Nikki
2. I am a legal midget (barely, I'm 4'11'', which is the cut off for women)
3. I would die without diet coke
4. Okay, maybe not die, but it wouldn't be pretty
5. My favorite colors are teal and pink
6. I like cupcakes more than cake
7. My dog, Lola is named after "her name was Lola, she was a show girl" however people think it's after "lola, lo lo la ley ola"
8. People tend to think my little sister is the older one because she is taller
9. I have asthma
10. My favorite care bear is Grumpy Bear, because he looks like he could use a good cuddle the most (I have a Grumpy Bear that Nikki gave to me. He even went to college with me)
11. I can play guitar and piano
12. My favorite movie is Breakfast at Tiffany's
13. I've never had the chicken pox
14. I hate anything that is artificially grape flavored, but I do like real grapes. I think it's because the artificial grape taste reminds me of the dimetapp my Mama gave me as a kid
15. I ran Cross Country and Track (3200, 1600) in high school along with doing theater
16. When I was a little girl I wanted to be Annie (from the musical) or the Little Mermaid
17. I don't fully understand the point of making your bed in the morning
18. I had 5 American Girl Dolls (Molly, Felicity, Kit, Kristen and a Today Doll named Lindsay). My favorite was Felicity. But not just because she had red hair; for a LONG time I was fascinated by the Revolutionary War and everything from that time period.
19. One of my most favorite "big" words is 'subsequently' because it is fun to say

Me neither!
Mostly because I get tired easily and tend to have Nanna Naps in the afternoon.

ReplyDeleteUmm more twinner-ness...I LOVE love love like am obsessed with the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's. I have a huge print of Audrey Hepburn at my bedroom in my parent's house (yes I still have a room there, yes I have been married for a year, it's too cute to take down. the end) I dream of having an orange cat named cat. I freaked out when I went there in NY.
ALSO my American Girl was Felicity. I loved her and still have her at my parent's house.
P.S. all your presents look so cute. Especially that gray ruffly number.

I feel bad that I didn't know it was coming up! 19 & 20 are both sort of nothing, but you should decide to feel special about them anyway because think about it...after 21 there's really no "big events". So enjoy your birthday and how special you are anyway!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I think I would feel like a giant next to you--5'7. I know it's strange, but I've always wished I was shorter. Also, cupcakes are definitely amazing. What are your favorites? I like yellow cake with chocolate frosting. Oh oh and I'm the same about grape things! Horrible flavor, great fruit.
